EAPASA's role as environmental assessment practitioners' registration authority extended

Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment Minister Barbara Creecy has extended the appointment of the Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa (EAPASA) as the single registration authority for the regulation of environmental assessment practitioners for a further two years.

The extension permits EAPASA to continue being the only registration authority in terms of the National Environmental Management Act until February 7, 2026.

The latest extension will allow the Minister to adequately consider options for the long-term regulation of environmental assessment practitioners.

EAPASA was initially appointed as the single registration authority for a period of five years from February 8, 2018. This term of appointment came to an end on February 7, 2023, and was extended until February 7 this year.
