Free cable management product designs for download

In cooperation with engineering information technology services provider Cadenas, cable management solutions provider HellermannTyton announced last month that the three- and two-dimensional (3D and 2D) computer-aided design (CAD) data of thousands of its products will be made available for free download.

By implementing Cadenas’s eCATALOGsolutions technology, HellermannTyton has made it easy for engineers to find cable management solutions and import the respective CAD models of these products, including cable ties and fixings, as well as cable protection products, directly into their design.

Under the products tab on HellermannTyton’s website, engineers can view the 3D CAD models of numerous products and download them. This service is featured in the search results alongside links to supplier sources and the respective catalogue page for each product. The respective 3D CAD model and its preview are shown to the user in the Internet browser through the PARTcommunity 3D Web viewer.

Cadenas’s PARTcommunity embedded technology has been enabling direct integration of the 3D CAD download into the websites of component manufacturers since the middle of last year.

HellermannTyton 3D CAD models are also available though the company’s dedicated PARTcommunity download portal. Engineers can browse for parts in the catalogue structure or discover them using the full-text search function on the company’s website.

The CAD data of the desired product can be downloaded in all established formats and imported into the CAD system, or sent by email. Moreover, a portable document format data sheet providing precise product dimensions, materials, product properties and the scope of delivery can be sent.

HellermannTyton communications manager James Hill highlights significant time saving and improved support during the design phase as some of the beneficial results of the company’s comprehensive 2D and 3D CAD services.

“This, in turn, leads to significant cost savings for our customers. We are pleased with the take-up of the service and are extending the products in the database step by step,” concludes Hill.
