Lighting manufacturer BEKA Schréder emphasises the importance of using correct lighting in oil refineries to ensure productivity and avoid injury.

It is important that quality lighting is ensured in busy working environments to enable people to work safely and accurately, says BEKA Schréder industrial branch manager Phillip Vermeulen.

He adds that it may even cause employees to misjudge situations, potentially causing accidents.

Therefore, well-illuminated, glare-free light-emitting-diode (LED ) lighting can make employees more alert and improve concentration levels, consequently resulting in happier, safer employees who make fewer errors, says Vermeulen.

“The locally manufactured LEDNOVA, a robust and reliable LED bulkhead range developed as part of BEKA Schréder’s luminaires, offers a low watt per square metre (W/m2) to provide the correct light output – no more and no less,” he emphasises.

While traditional discharge lamps can have a colour rendering index (CRI) of less than 50, making it difficult for workers to discern colours and writing, BEKA Schréder’s LED luminaires boast a CRI of up to 80 or more – providing a much more natural colour, similar to natural daylight, for better perception.
