Company introduces stainless steel fastener solutions

PEM TYPE TSO4 The fasteners install reliably and permanently into stainless steel sheets as thin as 0.63 mm

Fastener solutions provider Penn-Engineering has launched a range of stainless steel self-clinching fasteners, the PEM Type TSO4, which provides ideal fastener solutions for stacking or spacing components to ultrathin stainless steel panels.

The company states that the specially hardened stainless steel fasteners install reliably and permanently into stainless steel sheets as thin as 0.63 mm, with only a single mating screw required for final component attachment.

“It enables lighter designs by reducing hardware count and offers the added benefit of excellent corrosion resistance for an assembly. PEM Type TSO4 standoffs are manufactured from heat-treated 400 series stainless steel for use in stainless sheets.

“With the fasteners harder than the host stainless sheet, successful clinching results in their becoming integral parts of an assembly without risk of loosening hardware,” details that com- pany.

The fasteners are available in several styles, including thru-threaded or blind-threaded versions, and in various lengths with thread sizes from 2-56 through to 6-32 and M2.5 through M3.5.

The PEM Type TSO4’s thread design at the barrel end enhances the length of the required mating screw and thread-type variations can be specified, creating over- sized fastener bodies to achieve increased bearing surface, wall thickness and performance.

The standoffs mount simply and quickly by pressing the fastener into a round hole in the host sheet and applying sufficient squeezing force using a standard press to embed the standoff’s head flush in the sheet and complete the process, concludes PennEngineering.

PennEngineering, headquartered in Danboro, Pennsylvania, US, and founded in 1942, is a global leader in fastening solutions, states the company. It is the parent of company Penn- Engineering Automotive Fasteners, and pennTool Group. PennEngineering companies provide fastener and fastener installation design and product solutions worldwide for diverse industries, including electronics, computer, data/telecom, medical, automotive, marine, aerospace/aircraft, and general manufacturing.
