CapeNature takes Cederberg office off-grid

Solar plant at CapeNature offices, in Cederberg

Biodiversity conservation organisation CapeNature is installing a 75 kW solar photovoltaic system at its offices in Algeria, in the Cederberg region of South Africa’s Western Cape.

The Cederberg wilderness is three hours outside of Cape Town and the organisation strives to continuously improve its reserves.

The solar facility will help ensure operational continuity during times of load-shedding, comments Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning MEC Anton Bredell.

Additionally, the plant also shows CapeNature’s efforts to sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint.

The next CapeNature site to go off-grid is the Rocherpan Nature Reserve, on the West Coast.
