The North West provincial government says the Bojanala Special Economic Zone (SEZ) will create an estimated 2 500 jobs and attract about R8-billion of investment.

High on the agenda is mineral beneficiation; the creation of an industrial zone and a logistics park; and investment in information and communications technology.

The Bojanala region of the North West is endowed with mineral resources. It has been earmarked to drive the economic recovery of the province.

The provincial government is seeking to tap into the region's vast mineral wealth to drive the socioeconomic development of the province.

Premier Bushy Maape says the project is expected to help the government overcome the socioeconomic challenges in the province.

"As a province, we must pull together in ensuring we see to the success of this project, particularly in creating socioeconomic opportunities for the poor and economically disenfranchised groupings in our province, including women and young people. Entrepreneurship particularly of previously disadvantaged individuals must be prioritised " he adds.
