Emergent diversified multidisciplinary engineering and construction group Tirelo Africa is actively searching for business opportunities in the South African engineering, project management, construction and mining, as it looks to expand its footprint in these sectors.

“As part of our growth and development strategy, we are actively looking for strategic partners and investors to make this diversified black-owned entity a force to be reckoned with, as we believe the market is ready for the new entrants. We request that State-owned Enterprises, mining houses, and other industrial companies liaise with us to realise mutually beneficial opportunities,” notes  Tirelo Africa founder and business development director Kgotlelelo Paul Maphethu.

The 100% black-owned company was founded by a consortium of skilled individuals with the aim of becoming a major engineering, procurement and construction management company, servicing both the public and private sectors.

“We aim to contribute towards the economic growth of South Africa by creating employment. The company was not only formed to make profits,” says Maphethu, adding that the employment opportunities will be created for youth and previously disadvantaged individuals.

The company is comprised of five divisions, namely engineering, mining, construction, infrastructure and project management.

The engineering division focuses on mechanical and electrical installations and commissioning, geotechnical work, fabrication and boiler making, industrial services, structural work and platework, as well as piping.

The mining division provides mining contract services for both opencast and underground mining, including for plant maintenance, shutdowns, and tailings dams. It also provides services related to materials handling facilities, operation and waste and residue management, as well as disposal and recovery facilities.

The construction division is responsible for roads and earthworks, civils, low-cost housing, residential housing and non-residential real estate, property development and concessions, quantity surveying and cost management, as well as concrete rehabilitation. While the infrastructure division focuses on property development services, wastewater treatment and sewage plants, greenfield projects, railways and bridges, as well as rehabilitation.

Lastly, the project management division offers consulting and planning services, including design, and project execution and staffing services.

Personal Protective Equipment

Tirelo Africa also has a thriving personal protective equipment (PPE) arm, which supplies PPE to the mining, construction and industrial sectors in South Africa.

The company has been a supplier of various PPE brands, including Javelin, Jonsson Workwear, MSA, Tamm Industrial and BBF Safety Group since 2017. However, with the assistance of Javelin, Tirelo Africa aims to set up a workshop to manufacture and distribute its own brand of PPE in future. “We will also set up PPE initiatives and projects in the communities adjacent to the mines and projects where we operate, to assist in skills transfer and corporate social investment  programmes.”
