South Africa begins 2021 amid the genuine risk of the Covid-19 virus surfing a second deadly wave. In the first half of the year, at least, diligent adherence to the normal nonpharmaceutical precautions will be vital if we are to ensure that business and educational activities are to resume. The good news, though, is that a vaccine is on the way, which could, if professionally deployed and widely embraced, all but wipe out the coronavirus threat by year-end.
