BEYOND NUCLEAR

President Francois Hollande has promised to lower France’s dependence on nuclear power to 50% by 2025, from 75% currently. Initially, the target was expected to require the closure of plants, but it appears that demand growth will be the main cause. Electricite de France (EDF) CEO Henri Proglio encouraged French lawmakers to rein in efforts by government to cut reliance on nuclear in light of that likely growth.
