The project is located in the Tete region of Mozambique.

Project Owner/s
Kibo Energy has a 65% interest, with the option to go to 85%. Termoeléctrica is Kibo’s strategic partner.

Project Description
The BPPP is Kibo’s first pure energy project and the plan is to initially develop a 150 MW coal-fired power station, with coal feedstock produced by local producers.

Latest Developments
A grid impact assessment and integration study on BPPP has been completed, reviewed and submitted to Mozambique State-owned power utility Electricidade de Moçambique. This forms an important part of the definitive feasibility study (DFS) optimisation and financial model integration for BPPP.

A final review of the DFS is in progress.

Meanwhile, an integration study to assess the feasibility of a 400 MW combined project for Kibo’s Baobab project and the BPPP has been commissioned, based on positive findings from a technical and financial review of the Baobab project.
