Project Description
ExxonMobil is planning a hydrogen production plant and one of the world’s biggest carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects at its Baytown integrated refining and petrochemicals site.

The project will form part of the company’s initial contribution to a broad, cross-industry effort to establish a Houston CCS hub with an initial target of about 50-million tons a year of carbon dioxide (CO2) by 2030, and 100-million tons by 2040.

The proposed hydrogen facility will produce up to 28.32-million cubic feet a day of blue hydrogen.

The carbon capture infrastructure for this project will have the capacity to transport and store up to ten-million metric tons of CO2 a year, more than doubling ExxonMobil’s current capacity.
