Augusta Steel

Augusta Steel, a Uni-Span Holdings group company based in Boksburg, on Gauteng’s East Rand, processes and supplies various types of steel products.

Established in 1993 as Augusta Profiles, it was restructured in 2011 and evolved into what is now Augusta Steel.

The company, which has been black economically empowered for several years, runs two tube mills, three open-section lines, a 6 mm slitter and a 6 mm plate line.

Augusta Steel has invested in new machinery and upgraded existing ones. These include a new tube mill and a plate process facility capable of processing 6-mm-thick plate up to 500 mm wide. The acquisition in 2011 of Ground Support Systems has enabled Augusta Steel to supply friction rock stabilisers to the local and African mining industries.

Augusta’s Boksburg steel processing plant has a total area of 12 000 m2 under crane.
The 108-employee company’s recent major contracts include the supply of a substantial amount of steel and scaffolding to power utility Eskom’s Medupi project.
