Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Ebrahim Patel has advised that amendments to the Automotive Production and Development Programme (APDP) will be gazetted on June 25 and implemented from July 1.

The APDP is an automotive industry support policy consisting of rebates and refunds of certain customs duties.

It was initiated with localisation and transformation in mind and this new second phase of the policy follows on the first phase APDP, which ran from January 2013 to June this year.

The implementation of APDP Phase 2 had initially been delayed from January 2020 to July 2020, and again to July this year, owing to Covid-19 impacts.
