Steel producer ArcelorMittal South Africa (AMSA) has appointed its statutory reporting senior manager Suretha van Wyk as interim CFO with effect from October 1.

Van Wyk is currently part of the finance team and reports to outgoing CFO Desmond Maharaj, who has resigned as CFO and executive director effective from September 30.

Van Wyk will act as interim CFO until a permanent successor is appointed and takes office.

"The Audit and Risk Committee and board are comfortable that Van Wyk is well qualified and has the necessary experience and expertise to fulfil this role effectively.

"Van Wyk has 32 years of relevant experience and has been employed by AMSA for a combined period of 12 years, initially during 2002 to 2012, and then from 2019 to date in an auditing and statutory reporting capacity," AMSA says.
