Name of the Project
Alcazar Solar 1 photovoltaic (PV) plant project.

Location
The project will be located within Egypt’s New and Renewable Energy Agency’s Benban 1.8 GW PV solar park, which comprises 39 separate PV plots.

Client
The plant is being built by a joint venture between Alcazar Energy and Enerpal Consortium. The sponsors will own the project company Alcazar Energy Egypt Solar 1 SAE.

Project Description
The project entails the construction of a 50 MW solar PV plant.

The project will comprise a single-axis tracking system of about 201 600 PV panels, with a nominal capacity of 50 MW ac and a peak capacity of 64.51 MW dc.

Power will be transferred to an inverter and fed into the utility power grid system Substation 2 through an underground 22 kV trans-mission line installed by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company.

Substation 2 will be connected to a high-voltage line to the existing 220 kV high-voltage overhead line, which is about 12 km east of the Benban PV site.

Jobs to be Created
The project is expected to employ about 250 workers during construction and 15 to 20 personnel during the operational phase of the project.

Value
The project is valued at between $120-million and $130-million.

Duration
Construction is expected to start in the second half of 2016.
