Akhani Group was established early this year when Mine Procurement Solutions (MPS) and Vhaselwa Engineering & Management (VEM) Consulting merged. It is a black female majority shareholder managed entity with a footprint in several sub-Saharan Africa countries. Its head office is in Johannesburg

MPS specialises in infrastructure design, development and management for remote workforce camping sites. The services offered in remote camps range from catering, housekeeping and laundry services to solid-waste management, sustainability development and recreational services, besides others. Through its association with Aecom, MPS is capable of using alternative technology to contribute towards the attainment of sustainable human settlements at mining operations.

VEM Consulting focuses on business improvement solutions, such as optimising business performance to ensure operational efficiency, transparency, process agility and process standardisation. Through its association with Energy Cybernetics, VEM Consulting also provides alternative energy solutions and off-grid solutions at remote sites.

Akhani Group, which employs 412 people, has a presence in South Africa, Angola, Mozambique and Tanzania. The company was recently awarded a three-year $28-million contract by UTE Planageo in Angola.
