Europe-based global giant aerospace group Airbus announced on Monday that it had been included on the Deutsche Börse’s (German stock exchange’s) new DAX40 index, effective immediately. Early this month, the Börse expanded its previous DAX30 index to the new list of 40 enterprises.

Airbus is listed on three European stock exchanges – Paris, the German, and the Spanish. The group has been part of the CAC40 index on the Paris Stock Exchange since Airbus was created as a company in 2000.

“We are very pleased to be appointed to the newly formed DAX[40],” highlighted Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury. “We believe that Airbus has found its place in this index due to its economic size and performance.”

Previously, the group had been part of the Deutsche Börse’s MDAX index, which was composed of the 60 top companies that, in terms of market capitalisation, ranked below the members of the then DAX30. Airbus had been a member of MDAX since 2000. With the replacement of the DAX30 by the DAX40, the MDAX now numbers 50 enterprises.

“This inclusion [in the DAX40] allows us to better represent Airbus’ historic industrial significance in Germany and highlight our innovative and diverse portfolio of activities too,” he affirmed. “The inclusion in Germany’s most important stock market index is both a motivation and a responsibility to continue our strong strategic presence in the country. We are proud of our European roots.”
