Republic of Seychelles national flag carrier Air Seychelles announced on Wednesday that a new acting CEO and CFO had been appointed to the airline. The appointments had been recently made by the country’s Ministry of Transport.

The new acting CEO is airline Captain Sandy Benoiton, while the new acting CFO is Tyrian Gendron. Benoiton has worked at Air Seychelles for more than two decades and has been its COO since 2018. Gendron, a certified chartered accountant, has been with the airline’s finance team since 2017, most recently holding the post of financial controller.

“[T]he newly appointed acting CEO has also been exposed to various facets and challenges of the business,” affirmed the airline in its statement. “Sharing a wealth of experience and vast knowledge in the field, the new acting CEO will continue to drive the transformation plan forward to further strengthen business operations amidst the unprecedented environment.”

Gendron, continued the statement, “will be responsible for the planning, forecasting and management of the airline’s financial systems including the collation of the annual budget. As part of his new role, the finance professional will also focus on cost management, ensuring continuous implementation of cost benefit initiatives across the business, to further build on the airline’s revenue streams.”

Air Seychelles started operations in 1978 and added long-haul services in 1983. Currently, domestically, it operates daily flights between the country’s largest island, Mahé, and its second largest one, Praslin. It also provides charter services across the Seychelles archipelago.

Internationally, it operates scheduled services to India (Mumbai), Israel (Tel Aviv), Mauritius and South Africa (Johannesburg). It operates a fleet of five De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter 19-passenger twin-turboprop airliners on its domestic services, while the international routes are handled by two Airbus A320-200neo single-aisle jet airliners. At the 2020 World Travel Awards, Air Seychelles was awarded the ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Airline’ accolade.
