Air Liquide Large Industries South Africa (ALLISA) has appointed investment holding company Community Investment Holdings (CIH) as its local broad-based black economic empowerment (BBBEE) partner, in line with its social transformation ambition.

CIH now holds a 25% shareholding in ALLISA - a subsidiary of industrial gases company Air Liquide Group - which is operating the 16 air separation units (ASUs) acquired from Sasol in 2021.

CIH has business interests in sectors including financial services, logistics, mining, power and energy and healthcare. CIH is also in partnership with the South African subsidiaries of Air Liquide Healthcare and VitalAire.

Additionally, ALLISA is involved in various community upliftment programmes.

ALLISA launched the Secunda Business Centre, in Gauteng, aimed at building capacity for local small businesses to be competitive in the market. It also invested in small and medium-sized enterprise business development in line with its enterprise and supplier development mandate in 2022.

Moreover, during the first two years of operation, ALLISA supported the training and development of its employees, to build expertise in implementing “highly mastered” operational practices that optimise the operation of the ASUs and energy consumption.

With ADVANCE, its strategic plan for 2025, Air Liquide is targeting a global performance, combining financial and extra-financial dimensions.

The group develops solutions contributing to the climate and energy transition, particularly through green hydrogen, and takes action to progress in the areas of healthcare, digital and technology.
