6Sigma Shipyards Group (Pty) Ltd is an engineering, procurement and construction company, specialising in heavy steel construction. Established in 2012, the company designs and manufactures steel, stainless steel and aluminium structures such as dumb barges, jack-up barges, floating jetties, gangways, offshore floating structures, offshore containers and other heavy steel structures. 6Sigma is equipped with various ASME, Lloyds Register and Bureau Veritas welding procedures for similar and dissimilar plates, pipes and cast steel products.
Over the years, 6Sigma have been involved in a number of big projects, such as providing 200 t steel replacements for large containers ships, bulbous bows and oil rigs. 6Sigma also boasts 3D plate forming capabilities with their EU partners.
The company provides turnkey solutions and builds and designs products according to customer specifications. With a vast archive of designs for various types of ships, 6Sigma also provides pre-cut-and bend structures to Africa for on-site construction. 6Sigma can provide management teams as required to remote locations to facilitate on-site shipbuilding processes.
6Sigma has over 3500m2 under-roof facilities, housing multiple 10t overhead cranes with an 8m clearance under crane, and a variety of specialised equipment, such as welding machines, and cutting-and shaping equipment.
Design services include Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Concept, Basic, Detailed and Production Engineering, Finite Element Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics and other engineering specialities.
