The City of Ekurhuleni, in partnership with the SA Cities Network will be hosting a webinar on 24 November 2020 at 10:00.

The session is a two-part engagement containing a workshop and a discussion on the theme “youth voices in spatial transformation”.

The first part is a workshop hosted by Ms. Siphelelisiwe Ntombela of the SA Cities Network to share the Visualisation Studios methodology. The Visualisation Studios project engaged multiple voices, stakeholders and actors in city imagining to collectively develop visuals of their future city using creative and participatory tools. These Studios occurred across 9 cities from April to September 2020. This session will use creative methods in the same fashion as the studios, to host a short “mini-studio” experience. This will be followed by the showcasing of visuals and reflections from the Ekurhuleni Studio process.

The second part of this session brings young and more experienced planners together in an informal intergenerational discussion to reflect on the role of the youth in planning and what lessons there are for and from the youth actively involved in spatial transformation. After experiencing the workshop in Part 1, discussants can reflect on creative methodologies of civic engagement and how young people can both shape and relate to this work.

Date of webinar:  24 November 2020, at 10:00 to 12:30
