The International Water Association's (IWA’s) 2018 Water Loss Conference will be held in Cape Town from May 7 to 9, 2018.

The conference, which will be hosted by Wesgro, will be held at the Century City Conference Centre and Hotel and is expected to attract over 500 participants from more than 50 countries.

Participants will discuss the latest strategies and techniques to reduce water losses.

“The conference is being organised under the auspices of the IWA’s Water Loss Specialist Group, which has over 1 200 members in over 100 countries," IWA Water Loss Specialist Group chairperson Ronnie Mckenzie said in a statement.

Africa will be the focal point of the conference.

"The conference comes at a critical time, considering the environmental challenges the Western Cape is currently facing,” Wesgro CEO Tim Harris said.

Meanwhile, a one-day preconference workshop, on May 6, 2018, will look at the issue of nonrevenue water management and provide an overview of the latest IWA methodology for reducing water losses from municipal water supply systems.
