Vodacom is transforming into a digital company and in keeping with its digital transformation strategy, Vodacom today announced its internal rollout of employee engage platform, Vodacom Engagement App aimed at enabling its employees to easily engage with the company, as well as gain access to products and services at the palm of their hands anywhere at any time.

The Vodacom Employee Engage App simplifies employee engagement through a user-friendly interface, which is easy to navigate.

Through the app, employees are able to login to the platform from their smartphones, where they can:

  • View payslips and benefits
  • Access the network operator’s learning platform
  • Manage and review performance
  • Connect to Workplace
  • Link up with global Opcos
  • Keep up-to-date with the news
  • Log health and safety, as well as maintenance calls
  • Book boardrooms and view calendars
  • Access their digital signature
  • Access key Vodacom policies and procedures

The rollout of the app forms part of Vodacom’s phase one rollout of internal digital solutions. Vodacom is looking to enhance the app through the app analytics’ and insights from their employees as they have reached a 50% penetration of their staff base with 6 weeks of launch. Vodacom plans to enhance the platform by including smart parking, in-app messaging, ethics and compliance and digital visitor sign-in.

Vodacom Group Chief Human Resources Officer, Mbungela Matimba said: “The introduction of the Employee Engage App is aligned to our vision 2020, which will see us transform into digital solutions company. We already provide a five star digital experience for our customers, and we realise that it’s about time we provided the same experience for our employees, who are essentially the driving force that is propelling this organisation forward.’

Managing Executive for Facilities, Shobana Singh said, “In addition to creating a seamless work experience for its employees, Vodacom also has the capabilities to tailor make an Employee Engage app for other organisations looking to adopt the platform. We’ve consulted our IoT and IT teams to ensure that this platform is secure, efficient and user-friendly for our employees. The in-app authentication follows all the protocols from a data and cyber protection perspective.’

Vodacom has also created an app for visitors, called the Digital Visitor App. The app enables visitors to sign in digitally and, in turn, notify the respective contact person to meet and greet their visitor. This app will serve as a link between employees and visitors, enabling them to seamlessly check visitors in and out, acceptance of T&Cs, such as health and safety regulations, registry in the event of an emergency, visitor insights and well as enable visitors to access Vodacom’s push notifications and alerts.
