A new virtual business networking group offers local businesses hard-hit by Covid-19, a range of  resources to help keep trading.

The platform aims to provide South African business owners the opportunity to network with like-minded people within a virtual community, while also helping to find potential businesses leads and offering access to expert business advice.

Business Networking SA was founded by South African-born businesswoman, Jessica Whitcutt Fagan. Now living in the UK, Whitcutt Fagan previously worked in large South African corporates, including FirstRand and South African Breweries, before setting up her own business and says that she extracted key learnings from her membership of various business networking groups. Her experience of setting up a business in the UK and the devastating economic impact of Covid-19, is what spurred Whitcutt Fagan to develop a best practice model for Business Networking SA that she believes will resonate with business owners in South Africa.

Formal business networking is said to have a proven success rate, globally. According to large networking group BNI, its 270 000 members shared 12.2-million business referrals, which equated to $16.7-billion in income generation.

“Life unusual calls for business unusual and I think it’s time for South African business owners to try a new approach to sales and marketing. Building new networks in a group where everyone is committed to helping each other is a no-brainer,” says Whitcutt Fagan.

Business Networking SA meetings will be held virtually every two weeks from 16:00 to 18:00 CAT.
