Villarino wind farm and photovoltaic (PV) plant.

Location
The Villarino PV plant will be built in Salamanca and its neighbouring municipalities of Villarino, Sanchón de la Ribera and Brincones, in Spain.

The Villarino wind farm will be built on the outskirts of Trabanca, Ahigal de Villarino, Almendra, El Manzano, Iruelos, Puertas and Villar de Samaniego, in Spain.

Iberdrola.

Project Description
The project entails the development of a wind farm and PV plant with a total capacity of 500 MW, generating enough clean energy to power the equivalent of 290 000 homes and avoid the emission of 182 000 t/y of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

The PV plant will have an installed capacity of 200 MW and comprise more than 382 000 PV modules.

The wind farm will comprise 50 wind turbines, each with a 170-m-diameter rotor and a height of 120 m. The wind farm will have a total installed capacity of 300 MW.

Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to create 1 100 local jobs.

Capital Expenditure
€400-million.

Planned Start/End Date
Construction is expected to start in 2021.
