V&A Waterfront appoints new chairperson

Public-private partnership the V&A Waterfront has appointed Dr Shirley Zinn as independent chairperson of its board of directors. 

The V&A Waterfront is jointly owned by the Government Employees Pension Fund, which is represented by the Public Investment Corporation, and Growthpoint Properties.

During her career, Zinn has held human resources director positions at Reckitt Benckiser, the South African Revenue Service, Nedbank, Standard Bank and Woolworths Holdings.

She has her own business - Shirley Zinn Consulting, was previously a professor of human resources management at the University of Pretoria and recently completed her contract as an adjunct professor at the University of Cape Town.

Currently, she is director on the boards of Sanlam, MTN South Africa, Afrocentric, AdvTech and Spur, besides others. 

“I am truly honoured and excited to be joining the board of the V&A Waterfront as the chairperson. I look forward to working with the board in progressing the strategic direction of the V&A Waterfront,” Zinn says.

She holds two master’s degrees - one from the University of the Western Cape and one from Harvard – as well as a Doctorate from Harvard.

She is author of the book, Swimming Upstream, an autobiography focusing on her personal and professional journey.
