Project Description
The project entails upgrading the water treatment works capacity from 930 000 m3 to 2.9-million cubic metres a year.
A new four-million-litre reservoir will also be built to improve water supply to the campus. The project further includes the upgrade of the town’s wastewater treatment works’ capacity from two-million litres a day to four-million litres a day.

R130-million. The project is being funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training.

Both treatment works are expected to be operational by March 31, 2023.
Latest Developments
In November 2021, UFH reported that it was in the advanced stages of appointing the professional service providers, namely the environmental-impact assessment specialist, the consulting engineer for the water treatment works and the process engineer for the wastewater treatment works.
