South African valves company Ultra Control Valves (UCV) was formed by two valves industry veterans about eight years ago to fill a gap in the South African market for a specialist valves company concentrating on control valves.

UCV has since earned a substantial stake in both the water and mining industry, and is now offering a complete range of valves for both industries. This includes large bore butterfly valves and gate valves; as well as dam discharge sleeve valves; inline ring needle valves; segmented ball control valves; all types of check valves, including nozzle type; and ARI air valves from the best manufacturer in the world. A complete range of knife gate valves and other slurry valves are also available.

One of UCV’s specialities is the selection of the right equipment, including surge tanks, to solve any water-hammer problem. With all its connections in the water-hammer-reduction industry, UCV is able to assist in solving most of these issues.
UCV has a strong engineering capability and has a fully equipped workshop, as well as a field service team that is able to go to site to advise and assist in both the water industry and underground mining.

UCV is finalising a South African Institution of Civil Engineering one-day course, which will earn continuous professional development accreditation and is planned to be held around the country. One day seminars are also held at its facility in Edenvale, Gauteng, where all aspects of automatic control valves are covered, including hydraulics and any other valve aspects.

In line with international and local pressures to reduce water consumption and losses, UCV has simple solutions suitable for the African continent. Highly simplified ratio reducing valves, take the “myth” and complications out of pressure reducing, while Maric flow controllers reduce consumption in the simplest and most cost-effective way with zero maintenance, says UCV.
