The National Treasury has cancelled workshops that were meant to discuss export taxes on scrap metals and the taxation and regulation of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes), respectively, in line with government’s declaration of a national state of disaster owing to Covid-19.

Stakeholders were initially invited to attend the workshops on March 25, at the Development Bank of Southern Africa, in Midrand.

Treasury is exploring alternative electronic ways of interacting with stakeholders.

The workshops are aimed at providing more information to those wanting to submit comments on the matters.

Treasury will share further information regarding the nature and date of consultations in due course, before the commentary deadline, it said on Friday.
