From Creamer Media in Johannesburg, this is the Real Economy Report.

Sashnee Moodley:

To underpin digital strategy in a business, training needs to evolve to cover critical aspects such as improving safety and productivity in mining. The Murray & Roberts Training Academy, just outside of Carltonville, has therefore introduced multiple methods of achieving “vibrant learnership” through the adoption and use of modern technology. Simone Liedtke tells us more.

Simone Liedtke:

Initially established in 2005, the Murray and Roberts Training Academy (commonly known to most people as MRTA), made the strategic decision in 2015 to take its service offering to the external market, where it offers unique and centralized training to members of industry.

MRTA’s education, training and development executive Tony Pretorius, gives us the background.

MRTA Education, Training & Development Executive Tony Pretorius:

Simone Liedtke:

Typically focused on underground hard rock mining, which can be found in platinum, gold and copper operations, among others, the MRTA has a significant number of programmes on offer – These focus on a variety of specifications.

MRTA Education, Training & Development Executive Tony Pretorius:

Simone Liedtke:

MRTA’s “vibrant learnership”, as Pretorius refers to it, also incorporates an extended reality framework.
