TNPA names latest new tug Usiba

The Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) this week named its seventh new tug, Usiba, ahead of its delivery to the Port of Richards Bay in November.

The tug is one of nine to be delivered to TNPA as part of a R1.4-billion construction contract awarded to South African Shipyards.

The eighth tug is due to be delivered in February 2018 and the ninth and final tug in June 2018.

Meanwile, the Port of Durban this week also took delivery of the Umbilo tug, which was named and launched in May.
