Thermoplastic pumps specialist Vanton Pump & Equipment launched a new SGV Vortex pump head for its Sump-Gard vertical thermoplastic pump, which allows the pump to handle fluids and slurries containing stringy materials or solids up to 51 mm in diameter.

This is in addition to handling acidic and alkaline fluids with zero corrosion, and abrasive fluids with little or no wear.

Solid thermoplastic construction of all wetted components allows corrosion-free, abrasion- resistant handling of acids, caustics and a range of solids-laden wastes at temperatures up to 135 °C, states Vanton.

“The SGV Vortex pump head features a recessed, dynamically balanced, clog-free impeller. This allows solids to pass through the pump without blockage, and is offered on Vanton SG Series sump pumps for depths to 6.1 m, and SGK cantilevered bearingless run-dry pumps for depths to 1.2 m,” highlights the company.

All fluid-contact components of the pump are available in abrasion-resistant polypro- pylene, polyvinyl chloride , chlorinated polyvinyl chloride or polyvinylidene fluoride, which are chemically inert to the corrosive fluids they are specified to handle, unlike metallic components, says Vanton.

The heavy-duty stainless steel shaft is fully isolated from the fluid by a thick-sectioned thermo- plastic sleeve, eliminating metal contact with the pumped fluid.

Vanton also offers horizontal centrifugal thermoplastics pumps with vortex and other hydraulic heads, as well as seal-less peristaltic pumps and inte- grated nonmetallic tank and/or pump systems for the handling of corrosive treatment chemicals and collected wastes spanning the entire pH range, with no corrosion of the pump, and of ultrapure liquids and reagent-grade chemicals, with no contamination or ionisation of the fluid, says Vanton.

“Performance of SGV pump heads is dependent on the pump model and the characteristics of the fluid being pumped,” adds Vanton.
