The flagship Cote d’Or National Sports Complex in Mauritius WON the coveted CESA Aon engineering excellence international project of the year award.

This project was executed by the Indian Ocean Games Joint Venture (IOG JV), formed by Mott MacDonald Africa (Pty) Ltd (now MPAMOT Africa) and Ruben Reddy Architects (Pty) Ltd on behalf of our client, Mauritius Multisports Infrastructure Ltd.

The project team was appointed in July 2017 and was able to have this project delivered in time for the Indian Island Ocean Games in July 2019.

The multisports complex includes a FIFA standard hybrid pitch, an IAAF standard athletics stadium, a FINA-accredited aquatic centre (including a 50m training pool and a 50m competition pool), as well as a multipurpose gymnasium.

The multi-purpose nature of the facility adheres to a range of local and international sporting federation standards.

The project team lead by Greig Hamilton (Project Principal), Ruben Reddy (Team Leader) and Mike Aldous (Engineering Manager) and Andre Wessels (Project Manager) were supported by three local offices and several international offices, to bring ingenuity, innovation and sophisticated engineering design solutions to this project.

The success of this project would not have been achieved without the valuable contribution from our local Mauritian partners, Luxconsult (Mtius) Ltd and MLC Quantity Surveyors (Mauritius) Ltd.v
