SVI Engineering, specialist manufacturer of armoured products, has recognized the need for an armoured guardhouse solution. It is unrealistic to expect a guard in a fiberglass hut to offer any resistance during an attack. In many cases, multi-million-rand assets are left vulnerable as the guard has no time to react when facing a ballistic threat. The armour not only buys the guard time to call for back-up but also provides the confidence to turn defense into offense.

APPLICATION

The armoured guard house is aimed at both the commercial and private sectors. Mining sites can benefit from ballistic protection as well as private estates currently utilizing brick buildings offering limited ballistic protection. Ground-moving equipment left overnight on a new development site are often targeted as the unprotected guard is easily overpowered.

DESIGN

The guard is built entirely from B6 level armoured steel and armoured glass of the same rating which is protected by integrated grids. Available in two sizes namely 1.2 m x 1.8 m and 2.4 m x 3.0 m depending on requirement. It has a double, manual internal interlock and a clever anti-jam external lock that retracts to prevent lock-in.

It is designed with practicality in mind with provision for the fitment of radios, spotlights and antennas. Gunports allow the guard on duty to defend himself and an escape hatch is provided in the roof if needed.

The client is free to specify additional features such as off-grid capability and toilet facility. Aircon is provided as standard.

COST

The 1.2 m x 1.8 m unit starts at R 329,450 ex VAT and the 2.4 m x 3.0 m units retails from R 692,305 ex VAT. SVI also offers a rental option with pricing dependent on the term.
