Hopes of a rapid recovery from the 2007/8 global financial crisis have long faded. However, there was previously some optimism that things would have started looking brighter by now. Sadly, it’s not the case, with a number of economies still showing signs of serious distress. While things are ticking over in many countries, growth levels are nowhere near where they need to be to deal with a serious rise in unemployment, inequality and social vulnerability.
