Self-priming pump features outlined
A new self-priming pump promises a number of benefits, including increased performance, owing to its ability to reach a flowrate up to 110 m3/hr and head of 115 m.
Additional stated features include:
- Improved energy efficiency
- Reduced noise levels
- Ease of maintenance
Improved Energy Efficiency
Using air-screw technology, and optimised impeller and casing geometry, the Alfa Laval LKH Prime 40 pump promises efficient operation, reduced energy consumption and reduced carbon dioxide emissions. It is European Hygienic Engineering and Design Group certified and authorised to carry the 3-A symbol, which is a registered mark used to identify equipment that meets international standards for design and fabrication.
Versatility
The pump is aimed at improving operational productivity and is designed for cleaning-in-place (CIP) duties containing entrained air. It can also pump product, potentially reducing the capital investment when designing process systems for various industries.
Reduced Noise Levels
The company states that its pump reduces sound pressure levels by 80% when compared to pumps using traditional pump technologies for CIP/entrained air applications. This feature may assist in improving working conditions and plant safety for employees.
Ease of Maintenance
The pump promises easier and more cost-effective service and maintenance. It shares common parts with the Alfa Laval LKH pump range, which contributes to lower cost of ownership and potentially increased uptime. It is also backed up by the company’s global service network.
The pump is seen as particularly suited to pharmaceutical applications, owing to its hygienic properties.
