Seifsa seeks to appoint training centre service provider
The Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (Seifsa) has called on qualified service providers to submit bids for the management of its artisan training centre, in Benoni, by September 30.
The training centre has the capacity to train 250 people a day and currently offers apprenticeships in boilermaking; fitting; turning; milling; instrumentation; electronics; pipe fitting; tool, jig and diemaking; and welding.
Additionally, the centre offers learnerships, skills programmes, short courses, recognition of prior learning, trade proficiency assessment services, trade testing for contractual learners and noncontractual learners, and continuous upskilling for artisans.
“In addition to using the Seifsa training centre to provide engineering training and related services to actively promote skills development in the metals and engineering industries, the winning bidder will be expected to provide the required operating management, ensure that personnel involved in the daily operations are suitably trained, qualified and experienced; provide training and assessment materials, work procedures, operating and student management policies, systems and record keeping to meet the operating demands of the centre,” explains Seifsa human capital and skills development executive Michelle Norris.
The winning bidder will also be expected to comply with health, safety and environment regulations and adhere to best practice in managing all financial resources at the Seifsa training centre.
Tender documentation submissions and queries on the tender documents can be submitted to Seifsa CFO Rajendra Rajcoomar at rajendra@seifsa.co.za.
