Industry organisation the Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (Seifsa) has named its new board members.

EICO Engineering CEO Elias Monage, who is also a member of the Steel Master Plan Oversight Council and chairperson and founder of the Steel Industry Compliance and Support Fund, was elected Seifsa president.

The federation’s VPs are Nonhlanhla Ngwenya, MD at MphoNo Energies and board member at KSB Pumps and Valves and Andrea Moz, CEO of Auto Industrial Group and member of the Steel Master Plan Council.

Other board members are Dynamic Fluid Control CEO Tumi Tshelo, Frigoglass South Africa human resources executive Ryan Haynes, Reinforcing Steel Contractors director Ernest Volschenk, South African Mint Company MD Honey Mamabolo, director and chairperson of various companies within and outside the metals and engineering industry Malcolm Mcculloch, Actom Group CEO Mervyn Naidoo and Allied Steelrode Group CEO Arun Chadha.

Welcoming the new board members, Monage said the coming period would be extremely challenging and would require robust leadership to tackle the policy, regulatory and socioeconomic environment to position the federation as the apex employer body in the metals and engineering industries.

Monage welcomed the government’s Steel Master Plan, which he said would go a long way in addressing the sector’s challenges.

He emphasised that Seifsa was ideally positioned through the nomination and election of industry leaders to the Master Plan Committee.

He also stressed the importance of sharpening the federation’s agenda to remain relevant on the continent and globally.
