Dr Danie Cronjé will retire as Sappi chairperson at the end of February 2016.

He was appointed to the board in January 2008 and took up the position of chairperson in March of that year.

The Sappi board thanked Cronjé for his valuable contribution, saying his wisdom and counsel would be sorely missed as the company charted the next stage of its journey.

Sir Nigel Rudd would succeed Cronjé as chairperson, with effect from March 1, 2016.
