The South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) has appointed Louw Kannemeyer its new engineering executive, succeeding Koos Smit, who retired at the end of February.

Kannemeyer, who had been acting in this position to date until his permanent appointment in the role effective November 1, previously worked as Sanral’s network manager.

In his new role he will be responsible for the coordination and management of technical disciplines within the organisation, including activities related to the development of road-building plans and procurement, as well as related project resources. He will also oversee the execution process.

“As an engineering executive, he is required to identify opportunities for partnering with public entities, government departments and commercial organisations to execute the Sanral mandate,” Sanral said in a statement on Monday.
