S Australia's next round of exploration funding kicks off
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – The South Australian government has announced the first round of successful applicants for its A$10-million Accelerated Discovery Initiative (ADI), which will assist in driving jobs and investment in the region’s resources industry.
Minister for Energy and Mining Dan van Holst Pellekaan said the government selected the successful applicants for ADI funding from a competitive range of candidates, with many pushing the boundaries of conventional exploration.
“The resources sector underpins South Australia’s economy and the ADI is designed to deliver a pipeline of investment into the future.
“Several of the funded proposals from the A$2.9-million first round are directed at targets in frontier exploration districts where successful outcomes have the potential to open up new search spaces.”
“The South Australian government is keen to push the boundaries of traditional exploration and may just bring us a step closer to uncovering the next Olympic Dam or Carrapateena-class deposit.
“Our state has developed one of the world’s most sustainable and technologically-advanced mining sectors. The ADI seeks to build on that foundation by encouraging proposals that contemplate both existing and emerging technologies and exploration techniques.”
Van Holst Pellekaan said that South Australia’s international leadership in exploration innovation had ensured stable production, and the integration of new methodologies in mineral exploration would position the state for ongoing future success.
