Rotary table shot blast machine: what it is and how it works
Shot blasting is a technique used to clean, reinforce (by shot peening) or polish various types of material, especially metals. The versatility of this method is so impressive that it is also used to achieve artistic effects on glass, stone, marble and wood.
A shot blast machine is used, especially in industry, in reference sectors and markets that are also very diverse: from the automotive industry to the steel, aviation and railway industries. Two techniques are used: turbine or air SHOT BLASTING. It is also necessary to choose from various types of shots depending on the surface that needs to be treated and the end result required.
To achieve maximum technological efficiency for surface cleaning, a rotary table shot blast machine is used: installed directly on a floor without requiring any masonry work, this machine is the most simple, inexpensive and versatile solution for surface treatments.
How does it work? The material to be cleaned or polished is placed on the rotary table, which, when moving, exposes the parts at the sides and top of the object to the blasting action of shots coming from turbines.
This process can be used for cleaning moulds and materials that are forged, cast, moulded, welded or braze welded, especially in the automotive, steel and carpentry industries. Reliable state-of-the-art models of rotary table shot blast machines, such as the ALFA system by Turbotecnica, can support a table diameter from 500 to 2,500 mm, with a capacity of up to 2,000 kilos, and use magnetic separators (for sand flogging operations), turbine speed variators and special filters with a fire-prevention system.
