JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Industrial auctioneer Ritchie Bros held its fifth and final Fort Worth, Texas auction for the year last week, selling 4 950 items over two days for more than $40-million. These items included oil, gas, power and utility equipment, as well as general construction equipment, vocational trucks and transport trucks.

More than 4 600 people from 56 countries registered to bid in the auction, which took place from November 30 to December 1, including 3 200 bidders participating online. US buyers bought 91% of the equipment, 47% of which was bought by Texas buyers. International buyers from Hong Kong, Cameroon and the UK bought 9% of the equipment.

"We saw a record number of bidders for this time of year . . . with strong bidding activity producing steady pricing across the board,” said Ritchie Bros regional sales manager Bill Hogan.

Ritchie Bros sold equipment on behalf of 500 owners in the auction. Highlights included 255 truck tractors, 385 trailers, 90 excavators, 75 compactors, 65 skid steers, 50 loader backhoes, 25 dozers and a large selection of drilling equipment, among others.

All items were sold without minimum bids or reserve prices.
