The risk of power cuts is moderate, with the system expected to become constrained in the afternoon, Eskom said on Monday.

"The risk of load shedding will therefore increase later in the afternoon," the power utility said.

Stage two blackouts were implemented on Saturday as several units were out of service due to planned and unplanned outages.

During stage one blackouts 1 000 MW of the national load is cut, 2 000 MW during stage two, and 4 000 MW in stage three.
