Hydromine Projects and Marketing has partnered with Doble Engineering to expand its product range and customer base. Hydromine is the official channel partner responsible for sales and marketing of Doble, Morgan Schaffer and Vanguard solutions.

The product range includes portable dissolved gas analysis (DGA) equipment, which allows users to immediately diagnose and respond to emergencies on site, without sending oil samples to a DGA laboratory for analysis and waiting for the report. Such emergencies are usually triggered by an alarm or trip-switch from a protective relay, designed to prevent the transformer from failing catastrophically. On-site engineers are required to quickly determine whether an alarm signal or tripped circuit is due to a transformer fault or merely a false alarm. A portable gas analyser is able to verify whether the oil contains high levels of dangerous, combustible gases. The readings are compared to historical dissolved gas levels and DGA diagnostic algorithms are used to determine the best course of action.

When transformers alarm or trip at inconvenient times or in remote locations, it can be particularly valuable to obtain DGA results on site for  fast analysis and diagnosis of the problem.

Portable DGA analysers can also be used for routine analysis, such as the  testing of DGA samples on site before and after repairs, or while performing additional tests and inspections. Furthermore, portable DGA analysers can be used on site to confirm the readings of a DGA monitor, or a suspicious DGA laboratory result.

When a transformer has an active fault, a portable DGA analyser can be used for more frequent sampling and to keep the unit in service while using DGA fault diagnostic software to follow the fault evolution. In general, these portable tools are valuable whenever quick DGA results are needed to make timely maintenance decisions.

Hydromine Projects and Marketing (PTY) LTD is a company focused on improving efficiency. We started out with a focus on fluid handling system and then branched out to naturally include the energy monitoring aspects of production. In addition to the Test and Measurement range of products, we are able to offer a comprehensive range of valves and actuators from the generic to specialized solutions. The latest offering brought into our product range, is a fully IP67 plastic enclosure range of quarter turn electric actuators with a difference. The unit uses brushless DC motors to drive the valve position, magnetic position sensing and reporting, local visual indication as well as a fully smart control option. A fail-safe option can be added to the units without altering the size or adding mechanical components. Contact us for more information.
