Global energy management specialist Schneider Electric last month introduced a new series of room controllers, which provides a solution that integrates a thermostat/temperature sensor and programmable room controller in a single unit.

“The SE8000 series room controllers are designed with a highly customisable surface that functions in a multitude of environments and decors, including offices, retail stores, schools, hotels and more,” says Schneider Electric small building systems VP Frederick Morency. He adds that the controllers were engineered to meet the needs of building owners and facility managers in the various industries.

Installation of the controllers lowers total installed cost-of-ownership; reduces installation labour, which enables faster commissioning time, and delivers a quick return on investment for retrofit projects, he says.

“The room controllers deliver all the comfort and control functionality found in multi- component direct digital control systems, but in a small, easy-to-install package that can scale across a facility to enhance the energy use of heating, venting and air-conditioning systems and help reduce operational costs,” he notes.

Other features include the opportunity for commercial building owners and occupants to reinforce their brands by displaying their logo, image or dynamic scheduled message on the controller screen.

Full customisation of this feature is achievable by selecting from five screen colours, two casings, and ten textured fascias.

In addition, the room controllers are equipped with advanced application- specific control technology, alarm monitoring, optional humidity and occupancy controls, multi- language support, a touch screen interface, and an optional discreet occu-pancy sensor.

“With the new SE8000 series room controllers, we are offering customers the most cutting-edge design and advanced room control technology in intelligent, easy-to-install units,” says Morency.

The room controllers are easy to install and commission, allowing quick deployment with minimal disruption to building occupants, end-users, and business operations. They are configured to integrate easily with most building management systems, he notes.

Further, he comments that application- specific models will be released this year for fan coils, heat pumps, roof top and air handling units that are preprogrammed to increase efficiency, and which include the option to easily modify configurations to meet unique environmental needs.
