A new polypropylene- (PP-) based composite, specifically designed for aesthetic applications, was launched at international composite show JEC World, held in Paris in March 2019.

The modified PP matrix is expected to meet class A automotive surface specifications and will target the automotive, sports and electronics markets.

StyLight Aesthetic composite is part of INEOS Styrolution’s StyLight range of  materials and is seen as an addition to its styrene acrylonitrile copolymers- (SAN-) based portfolio.

The portfolio ranges from a standard PP or SAN glass-fibre composite suitable for non-visible structural applications, to an aesthetic composite based on a modified PP, up to a SAN-based carbon composite for premium aesthetic surfaces.

The company announced its collaboration with Neue Materialien Fürth in an effort to optimise the new PP-based material.
