The SecureEnergy joint venture (JV) between engineering and construction group Murray & Roberts’ (M&R’s) subsidiary Clough and Elecnor has been awarded additional work to the value of R1.2-billion on the EnergyConnect project.

Clough’s share is about R600-million.

The award follows on the October award by Transgrid of its EnergyConnect project, the value of which was about R16-billion for the design and construction of an energy interconnector overhead powerline between the power grids of South Australia and New South Wales, with an added connection to Victoria.

Additionally, the Clough and Acciona JV earlier this year received proponent status on a R2.4-billion contract for the Stephenson Avenue Extension transportation infrastructure upgrade on behalf of Main Roads, in Perth, Western Australia.

Main Roads has now formally awarded this contract to the Clough/Acciona/WSP JV, of which Clough’s share is about R1-billion.

The project construction works will start early in 2022 and will take about two years to complete.

The above-mentioned awards will increase the platform’s order book by R1.6-billion.
