Telecoms company Telkom says CEO Sipho Maseko will step down as CEO and director with effect from December 31.

This is six months earlier than previously announced.

Serame Taukobong, who was previously announced as Maseko's successor, will now take over as CEO from January 1.

Maseko will remain an employee of Telkom until June 30 and will be available to Taukobong and the Telkom board in an advisory capacity.
