LNG files environmental paperwork in Nova Scotia
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) on Wednesday announced that the environmental assessment of the proposed Bear Paw pipeline had been registered with Nova Scotia Environment.
The pipeline, being developed by subsidiary Bear Paw, would consist of a 62.5 km natural gas pipeline connecting the Bear Head LNG project to the North American natural gas pipeline network.
LNG told shareholders that the environmental assessment was open for public comments, which would continue until April 29.
“We are committed to completing the Bear Paw pipeline in a manner that protects the natural and cultural environment,” said Bear Paw president Maurice Brand.
“We are putting all the elements in place, with Bear Paw pipeline being one of them, to develop a successful LNG export facility on Cape Brenton Island.”
Bear Head has Canadian approval to export up to 12-million tonnes a year of LNG, while the US Department of Energy has allowed the company to export US-sourced natural gas to nations that had existing free trade agreements, and nations that did not.
